Window Tint Laws in Wyoming
Laws change. Verify current requirements with your local DMV/RMV before choosing or installing film. This is not legal advice.
VLT is visible light transmission: lower percentages mean darker windows. A film's labeled shade is not necessarily the finished glass-plus-film reading. The limits below cover ordinary passenger cars unless stated otherwise.
- Front side windows
- At least 28% combined VLT; nonreflective.
- Rear side windows
- At least 28% combined VLT; nonreflective.
- Back window
- At least 28% combined VLT; nonreflective.
- Windshield strip
- Nonreflective strip above AS-1 or top five inches, whichever is closer; not red/yellow/amber.
Vehicle class and conditions
Measurement basis: Combined glass-plus-film visible light transmission, not the film label alone.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle rear sides: Behind-driver windows of qualifying MPVs exempt from section 31-5-962 requirements.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle back window: Behind-driver windows of qualifying MPVs exempt from section 31-5-962 requirements.
- Ordinary maximum reflectance 20%; tint behind driver ordinarily requires both mirrors. Statutory listed rear-vehicle class exemption is broader than just VLT.
- 13% grandfather provision depends on film being applied before July 1, 1996, not merely vehicle model year.
- Medical director-issued certificate permits side/rear at least 25%, windshield at least 70% outside permitted strip.
