Window Tint Laws in Vermont
Laws change. Verify current requirements with your local DMV/RMV before choosing or installing film. This is not legal advice.
VLT is visible light transmission: lower percentages mean darker windows. A film's labeled shade is not necessarily the finished glass-plus-film reading. The limits below cover ordinary passenger cars unless stated otherwise.
- Front side windows
- No adhered material on front side/vent windows except Commissioner-approved medical exemption.
- Rear side windows
- Section 1125 specifies no rear-side numeric limit; clear driver visibility still required.
- Back window
- No numeric tint limit in section 1125; both mirrors required if rear glass obscured.
- Windshield strip
- No adhered material except specified sticker areas, four-by-twelve-inch lower-right area and two-by-two-and-one-half-inch upper-left area; no general tint strip stated.
