Window Tint Laws in Oklahoma
Laws change. Verify current requirements with your local DMV/RMV before choosing or installing film. This is not legal advice.
VLT is visible light transmission: lower percentages mean darker windows. A film's labeled shade is not necessarily the finished glass-plus-film reading. The limits below cover ordinary passenger cars unless stated otherwise.
- Front side windows
- At least 25% VLT; reflectance at most 25%.
- Rear side windows
- At least 25% VLT.
- Back window
- At least 25% VLT.
- Windshield strip
- Transparent strip above AS-1 or within five inches, whichever is closer to top; not red or amber.
Vehicle class and conditions
Measurement basis: Combined glass-plus-film visible light transmission, not the film label alone.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle rear sides: At least 25% VLT.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle back window: At least 25% VLT.
- No ordinary MPV rear exemption. Qualifying pre-1996 vehicles may have at least 10% VLT behind driver with at most 25% reflectance and both outside mirrors showing 200 feet behind.
- Licensed bus/taxi rear windows, specified government vehicles and commissioner-approved medical exemptions are separate.
