Window Tint Laws in Nevada
Laws change. Verify current requirements with your local DMV/RMV before choosing or installing film. This is not legal advice.
VLT is visible light transmission: lower percentages mean darker windows. A film's labeled shade is not necessarily the finished glass-plus-film reading. The limits below cover ordinary passenger cars unless stated otherwise.
- Front side windows
- At least 35% combined VLT with 7% tolerance; nonreflective.
- Rear side windows
- No VLT minimum with both outside mirrors showing 200 feet behind.
- Back window
- No VLT minimum with both outside mirrors showing 200 feet behind.
- Windshield strip
- Transparent topmost material with lower edge at least 29 inches above undepressed seat under statutory procedure; not red or amber.
Vehicle class and conditions
Measurement basis: Combined glass-plus-film visible light transmission, not the film label alone.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle rear sides: No VLT minimum with both outside mirrors showing 200 feet behind.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle back window: No VLT minimum with both outside mirrors showing 200 feet behind.
- Seat-based measurement uses point five inches ahead of lower seat backrest with seat lowest/rearmost, vehicle level; not a generic AS-1 strip.
- 7% tolerance is not a recommendation to install 28% VLT. Original-equipment and historical-installation exceptions are separate.
