Window Tint Laws in Nebraska
Laws change. Verify current requirements with your local DMV/RMV before choosing or installing film. This is not legal advice.
VLT is visible light transmission: lower percentages mean darker windows. A film's labeled shade is not necessarily the finished glass-plus-film reading. The limits below cover ordinary passenger cars unless stated otherwise.
- Front side windows
- At least 35% transmission; reflectance at most 35%.
- Rear side windows
- At least 20% transmission; reflectance at most 35%.
- Back window
- At least 20% transmission; reflectance at most 35%.
- Windshield strip
- Clear and transparent below AS-1 or 5 inches from the top, whichever is closer to the top. Upper sunscreening must not be red, yellow or amber.
Vehicle class and conditions
Measurement basis: Statutory applied-material transmission and reflectance; not an independently verified film-only rating
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle rear sides: Statutory MPV, van or bus rear side windows are excepted from subsection (1)(d) numerical limits.
SUV, van and multipurpose-vehicle back window: Statutory MPV, van or bus back windows are excepted from subsection (1)(d) numerical limits.
- An MPV carries ten or fewer passengers and uses a truck chassis or special off-road features; marketing terminology alone is insufficient.
- General clear-view, visibility and applicable federal safety-glazing requirements remain.
